In an Islamic context, Bani Isra'il (Arabic: بني إسرائيل Banī Isrā'īl "The children of Israel") (Biblical Hebrew: b'nei yisrael, בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל) refers to the Israelites.

It is also used to refer to:

  • Descendants of the 12 sons of Jacob, including Joseph
  • Ten Lost Tribes. Those from the Twelve Tribes of Israel that were said to have been exiled from the Kingdom of Israel after it was conquered by the Neo-Assyrian Empire around 720 BCE
  • Twelve Tribes of Israel. In this context Israel refers to the prophet Yaqoub who was also known as Jacob and Israel. The twelve tribes are tribes that descended from him.
